Quiet Hand Preparation for Video Calls

Prepare a quiet hand position or object before the call starts. Keep private notes and journal screens closed when sharing your screen, and wait for a break before logging anything.

Check the setup before joining

  1. Choose an action that will not create microphone noise or distract you from the conversation.
  2. Place it where you can reach it without leaving a comfortable posture.
  3. Close private app and browser-tool screens before starting screen sharing.
  4. Use a break or the end of the call for any note you want to keep.

Privacy depends on the screen you share

Local storage does not hide a window that you intentionally share. Review the selected window or desktop before presenting.

You do not need to explain your hand plan to the call. A relaxed resting position can be enough if an object feels distracting.

Check practical fit afterward

Ask whether the action stayed quiet and whether you could follow the conversation. Change the setup if either answer is no. The purpose of this plan is preparation, not a promise that an urge will disappear.
